QMJHL Playoffs: Upset Brewing?

When the playoff bracket was set, it was easy to assume a few first round sweeps, and a few more warmup-type matchups. For the most part, that’s held true. The exception however has eyes turning toward the Maritimes tonight.
Halifax entered the playoffs as the #9 overall seed and drew a Drummondville squad still heavily armed from last year’s championship. When the ranking shook out, the Voltigeurs (86 points in the regular season) took the #1 seed in the West. Facing a still young Moosehead Squad (48 points in the regular season) crossing over to the West as the #8 Seed, this should have fit the warmup category. Two games in, the Mooseheads lead 2-0 with the series heading home to Halifax. Clearly the pressure’s on Drummondville, and head coach Sylvain Favreau has his work cut out for him to prevent the warmup from becoming the upset.
